Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has called the launch a "thorough investigation" into the reasons for the accident. Wednesday night in Moscow, a source within the Russian Ministry of Industry and Commerce, quoted by Interfax news agency, had assured that preparations for the flight had been made s "in full". "Technically, the plane was in perfect condition," he added.
"I looked up and saw a large white plane just above the summit," he told AFP Juanda, 41, a resident of Cidahu, village ; on the slopes of Mount Salak which are based some of the supplies.
"It flew from right to left and then it disappeared and I heard like fireworks," said Juanda.
While the ground search dragged on, the long wait continued for relatives of the occupants of Sukhoi. The SSJ100, which received its Russian certification in early 2011, can carry between 75 and hundreds of passengers depending on version. He hopes to compete with Brazil's Embraer and Canadian Bombardier's regional aircraft considered promising.
But its launch was marked by various technical problems. Mid-March, a Superjet of the Russian airline Aeroflot had to turn around in a Russian domestic flight after an incident with its landing gear.
Many international groups have participated in the design of the aircraft, including French Snecma and Thales. The Italian Alenia (Finmeccanica group) took 25% stake in Sukhoi Civil Aviation in 2009.
